ABSTRACT

This study aims to develop a depression prevention program for the elderly who are not diagnosed with depression. A total of 310 participants in the survey were asked about the needs of the elderly, and the score of SGDS, which can diagnose depression. The depression score was lower than the standard of depression diagnosis, which is the focus of the program development. However, the death depression score of 10.7 ± 4.4 was significantly higher than the mean score. This is not a criterion for diagnosis of depression, but it can be a significant factor for the management of elderly suicide because it can affect the emotional state of the elderly and may also cause depression. In addition, participants in the demand survey wanted programs related to the elderly depression prevention program in order of body care, mental management, emotional expression, death preparation, and storytelling, and 177 (57.1%) said they would participate.
